This year the college organized a two day national Seminar in collaboration with the National Commission of Women.
The object of the seminar is to check the effectiveness and usefulness of the laws guaranteeing rights to the women concerning the property, as basic resource for dignified life and marriage for social and economic stability. The subject of the seminar deserves at length deliberations and discussions. The rights of women are always deprived and avoided. There are numbers of legislations passed as a result of agitations and hue and cry made at various platforms and institutions. But in a dynamic society, the laws made are passed or loopholes have created different processes the counter parts of women. It has been found that the laws are ensuring various rights of women, especially the rights of property and marriage falling short to cope with dynamism of society. Therefore the rights of property and marriage of women are always necessary to be checked with their effectiveness and usefulness. Our college is always attempting to deal with these rights of women. The dynamism needs us again to deliberate extensively on these rights and in this attempt we wish to open a platform in the form of two days national seminar. Being a law college organizing seminar, we are discussing the proprietary and marital rights of women of Hindu, Muslim, Christian and Parsi religions. The marital rights of women will include rights related to marriage, divorce and maintenance and proprietary rights will include rights involved rights in intestate and testamentary succession and there the intricacies of rights in properties in both movable and immovable. This seminar expects 1) The well informed participants 2) Submission of its proceeding to your office for inputs towards protection of marital and proprietary rights of women. As per the tradition of our college we are always focused to serve to society at large through dealings of laws specially.
