Regular Activities

NSS Opening Programme: The college has unit of 150 volunteers of NSS every year. To fulfill the aims and objects of NSS organizes various activities in order to establish campus-community linkage. The NSS students are actively participating in the various NSS activities which help them to develop their personality.

The opening programme of NSS Unit and activities for this academic year was held on Wednesday, 20/07/2016 at the august hands of Dr. Shobha Ingawale, Principal, Shri Shahumandir Mahavidyalaya, Pune, in the presence of Dr. Shubhada Gholap, Principal, Yashwantrao Chavan Law College, Pune. Dr. Shobha Ingawale on this occasion in her inaugural speech appealed the participant to serve under NSS with the real spirit.


Celebration of Yoga Day: To celebrate the International Yog Day’The college organized yoga shibir on 21st June, 2016 on the occasion. The Yoga shibir was conducted the yoga trainer Mr. Vilas Kale, Mrs. Kale and Mr. Agrwal, . The shibir was attended all teaching and non- teaching staff of the college. The Yoga trainers explained the importance and role of yoga in the life of everyone and how it is useful to maintain a good health. All the teaching and non teaching staff learned various types of paranayam and yoga.

 

Tree Plantation Programme : As a part of environmental protection and to create awareness for the same the college organizes ‘Tree Plantation Programme’ every year. The State Government of Maharashtra conducted a programme of ‘Van Mohotsav’ and directed every educational institute to celebrate Van Mohotsav Week from 1st July, 2016 to 7th July, 2016. A tree plantation programme was jointly conducted with the other colleges of the institute in the presence of  Smt. Pramila Gaikwad, General Secretary of our Institute, Principals of the all other colleges of the institute and faculty members. Around 50 students of the college participated in this programme. Trees were planted the student of the college across the open area of the institute. The trees were watered the students and shown there interest in preserving and protection of the trees planted.


Organ Donation Programme (महा अवयवदान अभियानTo create the awareness about the organ donation among the students and as a part of Maha Avayav Abhiyan of State Government the college organized a guest lecture of Dr. Nitin Londhe (Neurosurgeon, KEM Hospital, Pune) on 1st August, 2016. Dr. Nitin Londhe on this occasion explained the present students about the legal, social scientific aspects of organ donation. He also appealed the students to take the students efforts to create the awareness about the importance of organ donation and remove the doubts and misunderstanding about the organ donation programme. About 83 students attended this guest lecture.

Swacch and Swasth Bharat Abhiyan Pakhawada:  as  per the direction of Ministry of Youth and Sports  to promote Swaccha and Swasth Bharat Abhiyan, to sensitize the citizens and slum dwellers about safety sanitary practices, the NSS Dept. of our college has conducted following activities-

 

College Campus  Cleaning Under Swacchata Abiyan: ­­

                    

A group of 63 volunteers of NSS participated in the College Campus Cleaning programme under the Swacchata Bharat Abhiyan Pakhawada. The anti-polythene campaign was organized the college in the vicinity of the college. Approximately 11 t0 12 kilo debris of polythene was collected the participants and dropped it in the dustbin of the Pune Muncipal Corporation kept for collection and disposal of debris. This programme created the awareness among the volunteers and masses about their concern to keep their surroundings clean and to maintain the environment healthy.

Swacchata Shapth (स्वच्छता शपथ) to the students and staff (Pledge Ceremony)

To create awareness about the cleaning and to keep the surroundings clean a pledge ceremony was organized the college for its students and staff. In this pledge ceremony 87 students of the NSS including staff of the college participated and determined to spread the message of this mission among the masses. On this occasion Programme Officers explained the participants the aim, object and importance of the Swachhata Abhiyan and counted various benefits of the same.

Documentaries on Swachhata Abhiyan:


On this occasion two documentaries namely Swachh Bharat directed Anil Naani, ‘In the Name of Swachh Bharat’ directed Pavan Pathak  and a video song sung Kailash Kher on Swachh Bharat was shown to the participants. To create the sense of responsibility among the people regarding cleanliness these documentaries proved very effective


Swachhata Bharat Slogan Competition


Slogans are used in society to motivate the people for social cause. Slogans on swachh Bharat can be use to encourage and aware people at any related occasion. The college with the above object and to introduce new slogans for Swachhata Abhiyan has conducted ‘A Slogan Competition’ of the college students. The participants of the competition came out with new, motivational and appealing slogans relating to importance of cleanliness.

Guest Lecture on ‘Need and Object of NSS’: To mark the role of college students in SS, a guest lecture on the topic of ‘Need and Object of NSS’ was organized the college on Wednesday, 20/08/2016 at 10.00 a.m. in the college. in this lecture Dr. Shobha Ingawale, Principal, Shri Shahu Mandir Mahavidyalay, Pune, Delivered a guest lecture on the given topic and expressed about the concern of the college students with NSS. In her speech she pointed that the role of youth in development of any society is very important. The pattern of development necessarily involves universal social responsibility so all to contribute towards the betterment of weaker section of the society. She also shared her experiences with the students which she came across while doing her job.


Water Pollution Awareness Program- Immersion of Ganesh Idols:  Immersion of Ganesh idol and Nirmaly in rivers, lakes and wells are one of the important causes of water pollution in Pune. The NSS Dept. has conducted the meeting of NSS volunteers on 08/09/2016 with a view to orient the volunteers about the water pollution in Pune during Ganesh Festival and to prepare the plan for avoiding of water pollution during the said period. The discussion in the meeting came out with a solution that the volunteers will distribute the pamphlet giving information about the water pollution and remedy against it. The students were asked to distribute pamphlet to the Ganesh Mandal in their vicinity. Accordingly volunteers of the NSS took efforts to convince the Ganesh Mandal regarding immersion of ganesh idol in the water tanks provided the Muncipal Coorporation only.


 Road safety campaign : The breaking of traffic rules is one of the important causes for high rate of vehicle accidents in India. To make the students a responsible citizen and to abide them with the traffic rules the college has conducted Road Safety Campaign on 6th October, 2016. On this occasion students of the college took a  oath for compulsory observance of rule of traffic in the presence of Principal Dr. Shubhada Gholap. About 73 students attended this campaign. The teaching and non teaching staff of the college also attended this programme.


National Anthem Singing : As per the direction given UGC vide letter bearing No. Do No. 1-1/2015(Secy.) dated 04/08/2016 and in pursuance of the circular issued Director f Student Welfare Organisation and National Service Scheme, the college organized Mass singing of the national anthem on 23/08/2016 at 11.00 a.m.

The said program was organised as a part of celebration of Freedom Fortnight named as “AZADI-70, Yaad Karo Kurbani”. The said program was conducted in joint collaboration with National service Scheme and Student Welfare Organisation of the college. the college encouraged the students about the program personally motivating them the students were told about the object and outline of the program. There after the students along with faculty and non teaching staff enthusiastically sung the national anthem.

Celebration of National Service Scheme Day:  On September 24, 1969, the then Union Education Minister Dr. V.K.R.V. Rao, launched the NSS programme in 37 universities.  The cardinal principle of the programme is that it is organised the students themselves and both students and teachers through their combined participation in social service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of national development. Besides, the students, particularly, obtain work experience which might help them to find avenues of self-employment or employment in any organisation at the end of their university career.

On the eve of National Service Scheme Day the college celebrated the same way of organizing of various activities as suggested the Savitribai Phule Pune University. The details of the activities are given below-

Human Rights Day: Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December. It commemorates the day on which, in 1948, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In 1950, the Assembly passed resolution 423 (V), inviting all States and interested organizations to observe 10 December of each year as Human Rights Day.

The NSS Dept. of the college organized a programme of NSS volunteers to celebrate ‘Human Rights Day’ on 10th December, 2016. The volunteers were gathered in room No. 6 of the college. On this occasion a video documentary stating importance of Human Rights for the overall growth of human being was shown to the volunteers.

Blood Donation Programme:-The NSS Department of the college in collaboration with Shri Shahu Mandir Mahavidyalaya organized blood donation camp on 15/12/2016. A blood donation camp was organized with the help of Smt. Kashibai Navale General Hospital Blood Bank, Pune on the occasion of birth anniversary of Shri. Sharad Pawar (President of A.B.M.S.P). The camp was organized in the library of Shri Shau Mandir Mahavidyala from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. Total 100 bottles of blood had been collected during the blood donation camp.

Youth Week: During youth week organized from 01/02/2017 to 01/02/2017 students of the college celebrated Traditional Day, Bollywood Day, Chocolate Day etc. and lady students also participated in various competitions like Rangoli and Mehandi Competitions. The celebration of days received the huge response from the students of the college.

 Voter Awareness campaign: In democracy, it is not simply enough to inform voters about election dates. In order to help the electorates take an informed decision, it is quintessential to sensitise them about the importance of participating in the electoral process. Moreover, voters need to be educated about the process and made aware of the political parties, their manifestos, backgrounds of the contesting candidates and armed with several other information to help them cast an ‘enlightened’ vote.

With the above stated object the college organized Voter Awareness Programme for the students of the college. To aware the voters about their valuable rights of voting the Programme Officers of the NSS along with the students of the college prepared a compilation of movie video clips.
